Lettuce and other salad greens, basil, mint and other herbs, microgreens and strawberries do well. Staple crops such as wheat, rice and potatoes are not viable indoors.
Can a vertical farm run on a rooftop?
Yes, if the slab can take the load and there is water and power. A rooftop farm often uses sunlight with shade netting, which cuts the electricity bill compared with a fully indoor LED farm.
How long does a project take?
Small café, school or campus farms take a few weeks once the proposal is agreed. Larger commercial farms depend on the building work and the climate-control equipment, and the proposal gives the schedule.
