Society gardens, balconies and gardeners in Wakad
Wakad grew up beside the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi, between the NH 48 bypass and the Mula to its south, and most of its homes are flats in large housing societies along the Bhosari–Wakad and Sangvi–Kiwale BRT roads. It is about 3.5 km from our Pimple Saudagar office.

Wakad is dominated by large gated societies, many with hundreds of flats, a podium, a clubhouse lawn and a planted boundary. Residents garden on their balconies; the society garden is run by the managing committee, and keeping it green in the dry months is one of its harder jobs.
Water is the first problem
Pimpri-Chinchwad has been on alternate-day water since 2019, and in October 2026 reports said about 34 societies in Wakad, each with 200 to 500 flats, were getting only around half their requirement from the civic body and relying on tankers. A society garden here has to be planned for that.
We cut the water a society garden needs: drip lines and timers in place of hose watering, mulched beds, lawn kept to the areas residents actually use, and plants that cope with dry spells, such as bougainvillea, kaner, karanj and ornamental grasses, in the hardest-to-water corners.
Annual contracts for society committees
For societies we work on an annual contract: gardeners on our payroll deployed to the compound, a supervisor who checks the work, lawn, hedge and tree care, seasonal flowers and pest control, and a monthly report with photos for the committee. Pruning or removing large trees in the compound needs the municipal corporation's permission first, which the contract tracks.
One contract can also offer residents balcony and terrace services at society rates.
Balconies for IT households
With many residents working in Hinjawadi, balcony gardens here are designed to run without daily attention: hardy plants chosen for the balcony's sun, a light potting mix and drip on a timer from the flat's storage, with a gardener visit every week or two if wanted.
