Gardeners, balcony and society gardens in Pimple Saudagar

Our office is in Pimple Saudagar, so this is the locality we know best: tall housing societies along the BRTS roads, flats with one or two balconies each, and society compounds whose lawns and trees are looked after under one committee contract. Most of the gardening work here is on balconies, terraces and common gardens rather than private plots.

Homes and gardens in Pimple Saudagar

Pimple Saudagar grew from an old village into one of Pimpri-Chinchwad's densest residential neighbourhoods, and most homes are flats in multi-storey societies. That shapes the garden: a balcony garden here is a set of pots and railing planters that must stay light, drain cleanly and survive afternoon sun on the upper floors; a terrace garden belongs to the top-floor flat or the society; and the biggest green space in most compounds is the common garden by the gate and the podium, which the managing committee has to keep up all year.

Water arrives every other day

Pimpri-Chinchwad has been on alternate-day water supply since November 2019, and in October 2026 the state ordered a further cut in the city's allocation. For a balcony or terrace garden that means plants cannot depend on someone filling a can from the tap each morning.

The gardens we set up in Pimple Saudagar usually draw from the flat's own storage or a small tank, through drip lines on a timer, so pots get a measured amount even on no-supply days. Society gardens get the same thinking at a larger scale: watering is planned around the supply days and the society's tank capacity.

Society gardens along the linear garden belt

The locality has public green spaces of its own, including the linear garden that runs from Kokane Chowk, which shows how well neem, karanj, bougainvillea and flowering shrubs cope with the local soil and heat. Inside society compounds, the same plants do well when the beds are mulched and the drip lines are checked after every monsoon.

For housing societies we work on an annual contract: gardeners deployed to the compound, a supervisor's visits, lawn and hedge care, seasonal flowers and a monthly report with photos for the managing committee. Pruning or removing a large tree inside the compound needs the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's permission first under the state's tree protection law, which the contract tracks for the society.

Balconies on the upper floors

West-facing balconies in the taller towers take the full afternoon sun from March to May, and upper floors catch strong wind through the monsoon. We choose plants for each balcony's direction and height: kagaz ka phool, sadabahar, portulaca and gudhal where the sun is harsh, money plant, snake plant and peace lily where it is shaded.

Because our office is in the locality, a site visit to measure the balcony, check the railing and drainage, and see how many hours of sun it gets is quick to arrange.

Questions

Gardening in Pimple Saudagar

Do you have an office in Pimple Saudagar?

Yes. Garden & Acre's Pune office is in Pimple Saudagar, and our teams work across the surrounding localities of Pimpri-Chinchwad and west Pune.

How do balcony plants survive the alternate-day water supply?

We fit drip lines on a timer that draw from the flat's storage or a small tank, so every pot gets water on a schedule, including on days when the municipal supply does not come.

Can our society hand over the whole compound garden to you?

Yes. Under an annual contract we deploy gardeners to the compound, a supervisor checks the work, and the managing committee receives a monthly report with photos.

Do we need permission to prune a big tree in our society?

Pruning or felling a large tree needs the municipal corporation's permission under Maharashtra's tree protection law. We prepare the details for the application as part of a maintenance contract.

Which plants suit a west-facing balcony in Pimple Saudagar?

Sun-hardy plants such as bougainvillea, periwinkle (sadabahar), portulaca, hibiscus (gudhal) and adenium, in a light potting mix with drip watering. Shade-loving plants struggle there from March to May.
