The flat roofs of Sangvi's houses are ideal for a kitchen garden in grow bags or raised beds: tamatar, vangi, mirchi, bhindi, palak, methi and dhaniya by season, with guava, lemon or pomegranate in drums. We check the roof's waterproofing and drainage first and add a drip line on a timer.

Through the alternate-day water supply, the drip draws from the house's overhead tank, so the beds are watered every day.

Front gardens of colony homes

Bungalows and row houses in New Sangvi usually have a front garden that is seen by everyone who passes. We redesign these around the plants already doing well: keeping a healthy mango, parijat or champa, adding a clipped kamini or duranta hedge, and beds of gudhal, ixora and seasonal flowers.

Near the Mula

Lower ground towards the river holds water after heavy rain, so beds here are raised and the heavy clay is opened up with compost and sand. Pruning large trees inside society compounds needs municipal permission under the state's tree protection law, which our maintenance contracts plan for.
