For Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula
We design and build gardens around homes: the front garden and entrance, the side strip, the back lawn, a courtyard or a housing society's common garden. You get a scaled drawing and a plant list suited to your city's weather and your hours of sun, then our team lays the beds, lawn, paths, edging, lighting and drip irrigation, and plants it. After handover the garden can be looked after on a monthly plan.
Our Chandigarh office serves Sector 17, Sector 35, IT Park, Industrial Area Phase I, Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur, Kharar, New Chandigarh and Aerocity Mohali.
Who it is for — Bungalow, villa and row-house owners, builders handing over homes, and housing societies.

Local conditions
Planning for Chandigarh's climate
Fig. 01Climate and soil
Chandigarh has hot summers, a monsoon from July to September and cold winters with occasional frost. Its alluvial soil suits lawns, flowering beds and fruit trees.
Fig. 02When to plant and how to care
Trees and lawns go in during the monsoon. Winter is the best season for flowers and vegetables. Protect tender plants from frost in December and January.
Garden Design and Landscaping for Homes · Chandigarh
Designing a sector kothi garden
Many Chandigarh houses sit on planned sector plots with a front lawn and a back garden, on alluvial soil that suits a garden better than most cities we work in. Garden design and landscaping in Chandigarh is mostly about the weather: winter frost and fog, a summer that has touched 46°C, and a monsoon that brings most of the roughly 1,000 mm of rain. We design and build gardens for kothis in the sectors, houses in Mohali and Panchkula, and society gardens along the Zirakpur and Kharar corridor.
A sector plot usually has a lawn at the front, a driveway beside it and a smaller back garden. We draw the front as the formal part, with a clipped hedge, a lawn sized to how it is used, and flower beds that change with the season, and keep the back for fruit trees, a kitchen garden or a shaded sit-out.
The alluvial soil in the city and the lighter loam around Panchkula need less correction than heavy clay, so most of the preparation goes into levelling and drainage rather than replacing the soil.
Frost, fog and summer heat
January minimums have fallen to 1–3°C in recent years, and ground frost browns lawns and scorches tender plants. The permanent planting is chosen from shrubs and trees that take frost, such as kachnar, amaltas, harsingar, kaner and bougainvillea, and tender plants go near walls or under a canopy.
Winter is the season for colour here: roses, genda, gul-e-dawoodi, pansy and petunia beds are planned into the layout for October planting, while the summer garden leans on shade and hardy shrubs.
Treated water and tree rules
Houses on plots of one kanal and above have to connect to the city's tertiary-treated water network for gardening. A garden on that supply needs its own irrigation line and filter, kept separate from the drinking-water pipes, which we plan into the drip layout.
Under the Chandigarh Trees Preservation Order, 1952, trees cannot be cut or lopped without permission, even on private land, so a redesign keeps mature trees and builds the new layout around them.

Questions
Frequently asked
Which plants survive Chandigarh's winter frost?
Kachnar, amaltas, harsingar, kaner, bougainvillea and most roses handle frost. Tender plants are placed near walls or under trees, and seasonal flowers like genda, pansy and petunia are planted in October for the winter.
Can our garden use the treated water connection?
Yes. Plots of one kanal and above must connect to it. We lay a separate irrigation line with a filter for it, apart from the drinking-water supply.
When is the best time to lay a new garden in Chandigarh?
The monsoon, from July to September, for lawns, trees and shrubs, so they root before the frost. Winter flower beds are planted from October.
Do you provide garden design and landscaping for homes across Chandigarh?
Yes. We work across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, including Sector 17, Sector 35, IT Park, Industrial Area Phase I, Mohali and Panchkula.
What does garden design and landscaping for homes cost in Chandigarh?
Garden Design and Landscaping for Homes in Chandigarh is priced for each project in a written proposal, since the cost depends on the space, the crops and how much is automated.
Do you have an office in Chandigarh?
Yes. Garden & Acre has an office in Chandigarh, and our Chandigarh team handles installation and maintenance across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
What does garden design include?
A site visit, a scaled layout drawing, a plant list chosen for your sun, soil and city, and a list of materials for beds, paths and watering. If you want, our team then builds and plants it.
How is the price of a home garden worked out?
From the area, the share that is lawn, beds or paving, the size of plants you want on day one, and whether irrigation and lighting are included. You get a fixed figure in a written proposal after the site visit.
Can you redo an existing garden instead of starting fresh?
Yes. We keep the healthy trees and shrubs, move what is in the wrong place, and redesign the beds, lawn and paths around them.
Do you design small gardens and side strips?
Yes. Narrow side strips, small front gardens and courtyards often need the most careful plant choice, because every plant is seen up close.
Will the garden need a gardener every day?
No. We design for the upkeep you can give: drip on a timer, plants suited to the site, mulched beds and less lawn where it would struggle. A weekly or fortnightly visit keeps most home gardens in shape.
