Garden Design and Landscaping in New Delhi
A designed garden for your bungalow, villa, row house or society: drawing, plants, lawn, paths and watering. Across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad, priced in a written proposal.
For Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad
We design and build gardens around homes: the front garden and entrance, the side strip, the back lawn, a courtyard or a housing society's common garden. You get a scaled drawing and a plant list suited to your city's weather and your hours of sun, then our team lays the beds, lawn, paths, edging, lighting and drip irrigation, and plants it. After handover the garden can be looked after on a monthly plan.
Our New Delhi office serves Connaught Place, Saket, Nehru Place, Okhla, Vasant Kunj, Dwarka, Aerocity, Gurugram Cyber City, Golf Course Road and Noida Sector 62.
Who it is for — Bungalow, villa and row-house owners, builders handing over homes, and housing societies.

Local conditions
Planning for New Delhi's climate
Fig. 01Climate and soil
Delhi NCR has very hot summers, a short monsoon and cold, foggy winters, with poor air quality for much of the year. Plants need shade and deep watering in May and June, frost care in January, and regular cleaning of dust from leaves.
Fig. 02When to plant and how to care
Plant trees and lawns in the monsoon from July to September. Winter annuals go in during October and November. Air-purifying indoor plants are most in demand from October to February, when outdoor air is worst.

Different ground across the NCR
A home garden in Delhi has to look good through May afternoons that can pass 45°C, a short wet spell in July and August, and January nights close to 0°C with days of fog. Garden design and landscaping in Delhi plans for all three: shade where the family sits in summer, drainage for the monsoon, and plants that come through the cold. We design and build gardens for kothis and bungalows in South Delhi colonies, villas and plotted houses in Gurugram and Noida, and the common gardens of housing societies.
Noida sits on old riverbed soil that is rich and loamy, and beds there need little more than compost. Plots near the Aravalli hills in parts of Gurugram and Faridabad sit on rocky, quartzite-based ground, so planting pits are dug deeper and beds are filled with brought-in soil before anything goes in.
Low-lying parts of Gurugram have flooded badly in recent monsoons. A garden there is graded so water leaves the plot quickly, with lawns kept off the lowest corner and a gravel or paved area where water tends to collect.
A garden for heat and for frost
Shade comes first in a Delhi layout: a pergola with a creeper, or trees such as amaltas and kachnar placed early so they shade the sit-out as they grow. Bougainvillea, kaner, hamelia and tecoma carry colour through the heat, and the winter beds of genda, gul-e-dawoodi, petunia and phlox are planned in the same drawing so they can go in each October.
Tender plants such as ixora and some foliage plants are placed against a south wall or under a canopy, where they get some protection on frosty nights in late December and January.
Timing, leaves and tree rules
New lawns and most trees and shrubs are planted as the monsoon reaches Delhi, at the end of June or early July, rather than in the pre-monsoon heat. Winter annuals go in from October.
Burning leaves is banned in Delhi, so a garden with many trees is designed with a corner for compost bins or leaf bags. Pruning any tree needs the Tree Officer's permission under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994, which we plan for before shaping a garden around existing trees.

Questions
Frequently asked
Which plants survive both the Delhi summer and winter frost?
Bougainvillea, kaner, hamelia, tecoma, curry patta and most native trees such as amaltas and kachnar handle both. Seasonal flowers like genda, petunia and phlox are planted each October for the winter months.
When should a garden be planted in Delhi?
Lawns, trees and shrubs are best planted as the monsoon arrives, at the end of June or early July. Winter flower beds go in from October.
Can you design a garden on rocky ground near the Aravallis?
Yes. Planting pits are dug deeper and beds are filled with good soil before planting, and rocky patches can become gravel or rock gardens instead of lawn.
Do we need permission to prune trees in our garden in Delhi?
Yes. The Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994 requires the Tree Officer's permission to prune any tree, so we plan that before work on existing trees.
Do you provide garden design and landscaping for homes across New Delhi?
Yes. We work across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad, including Connaught Place, Saket, Nehru Place, Okhla, Vasant Kunj and Dwarka.
What does garden design and landscaping for homes cost in New Delhi?
Garden Design and Landscaping for Homes in New Delhi is priced for each project in a written proposal, since the cost depends on the space, the crops and how much is automated.
Do you have an office in New Delhi?
Yes. Garden & Acre has an office in New Delhi, and our New Delhi team handles installation and maintenance across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad.
What does garden design include?
A site visit, a scaled layout drawing, a plant list chosen for your sun, soil and city, and a list of materials for beds, paths and watering. If you want, our team then builds and plants it.
How is the price of a home garden worked out?
From the area, the share that is lawn, beds or paving, the size of plants you want on day one, and whether irrigation and lighting are included. You get a fixed figure in a written proposal after the site visit.
Can you redo an existing garden instead of starting fresh?
Yes. We keep the healthy trees and shrubs, move what is in the wrong place, and redesign the beds, lawn and paths around them.
Do you design small gardens and side strips?
Yes. Narrow side strips, small front gardens and courtyards often need the most careful plant choice, because every plant is seen up close.
Will the garden need a gardener every day?
No. We design for the upkeep you can give: drip on a timer, plants suited to the site, mulched beds and less lawn where it would struggle. A weekly or fortnightly visit keeps most home gardens in shape.
