For Indore and Pithampur

We design and build gardens around homes: the front garden and entrance, the side strip, the back lawn, a courtyard or a housing society's common garden. You get a scaled drawing and a plant list suited to your city's weather and your hours of sun, then our team lays the beds, lawn, paths, edging, lighting and drip irrigation, and plants it. After handover the garden can be looked after on a monthly plan.

Our Indore office serves Vijay Nagar, Palasia, AB Road, Super Corridor, Nipania, Bicholi Mardana, Rau, Sanwer Road, Scheme No. 54 and Bhawarkua.

Who it is for — Bungalow, villa and row-house owners, builders handing over homes, and housing societies.

Local conditions

Planning for Indore's climate

Fig. 01Climate and soil

Indore sits on the Malwa plateau with black cotton soil, hot summers and a good monsoon. Black soil holds water but cracks when dry, so gardens here need soil mixing and mulching.

Fig. 02When to plant and how to care

Plant in the monsoon from late June. Winter vegetables and flowers do well from October to February. Mulch beds and water deeply from March to June.

Building on soil that moves

Indore's temperature record runs from −2.8°C to 46.0°C, and the black Malwa soil under most home gardens swells when wet and cracks when dry. Garden design and landscaping in Indore deals with both from the start: paths and sit-outs on a compacted base so they do not crack, beds opened up so roots are not torn when the soil shrinks, and shade placed where the family uses the garden in May. We design and build gardens for bungalows and duplexes in Palasia, Vijay Nagar and Nipania, and for society gardens across the city.

Paving laid straight on black soil can crack or settle unevenly within a season or two, so paths, steps and patios go on a compacted base of murrum or sand. Planting beds get sand and organic matter worked into the top layer, which spreads the soil's movement instead of letting it split along one line.

Raised beds edged in stone suit the front gardens of Indore houses, where they keep the soil contained and make the garden look finished even in the dry months.

Plants for a Malwa garden

Trees placed early for shade make the biggest difference to a garden used in May, and neem, kadamb and amaltas are reliable on this soil. Bougainvillea, kaner, tecoma and sadabahar give colour through the heat, and mogra and raat ki rani near the sit-out are at their best on warm evenings.

Cool Malwa nights make winter the season for flower beds: genda, gul-e-dawoodi and roses do well from November, so the layout leaves sunny beds that can be replanted each season.

Watering and green waste

With mean highs above 40°C in May and almost no rain that month, every bed is on drip, set to water deeply and less often, which suits black soil better than daily light watering. New planting is timed to the monsoon, which brings most of the year's roughly 955 mm of rain.

Indore runs a strict city waste system, and many societies already compost their wet waste on site. A garden we design can include a compost corner, so leaves and clippings go back into the beds instead of out of the gate.

Questions

Frequently asked

Why do paths crack in Indore gardens?

The black Malwa soil swells in the monsoon and shrinks as it dries. Paths and patios need a compacted base of murrum or sand under them so the ground movement does not crack the paving.

Which trees give shade fastest in an Indore garden?

Kadamb, neem and amaltas are reliable on Malwa soil. Planting them early in the project means they shade the sit-out by the time the rest of the garden matures.

When should we plant a new garden in Indore?

Trees, shrubs and lawn are best planted with the monsoon, from late June. Winter flower beds go in from November, when the nights turn cool.

Do you provide garden design and landscaping for homes across Indore?

Yes. We work across Indore and Pithampur, including Vijay Nagar, Palasia, AB Road, Super Corridor, Nipania and Bicholi Mardana.

What does garden design and landscaping for homes cost in Indore?

Garden Design and Landscaping for Homes in Indore is priced for each project in a written proposal, since the cost depends on the space, the crops and how much is automated.

Do you have an office in Indore?

Yes. Garden & Acre has an office in Indore, and our Indore team handles installation and maintenance across Indore and Pithampur.

What does garden design include?

A site visit, a scaled layout drawing, a plant list chosen for your sun, soil and city, and a list of materials for beds, paths and watering. If you want, our team then builds and plants it.

How is the price of a home garden worked out?

From the area, the share that is lawn, beds or paving, the size of plants you want on day one, and whether irrigation and lighting are included. You get a fixed figure in a written proposal after the site visit.

Can you redo an existing garden instead of starting fresh?

Yes. We keep the healthy trees and shrubs, move what is in the wrong place, and redesign the beds, lawn and paths around them.

Do you design small gardens and side strips?

Yes. Narrow side strips, small front gardens and courtyards often need the most careful plant choice, because every plant is seen up close.

Will the garden need a gardener every day?

No. We design for the upkeep you can give: drip on a timer, plants suited to the site, mulched beds and less lawn where it would struggle. A weekly or fortnightly visit keeps most home gardens in shape.
